beginning to end.

This class is for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience. Students receive direct instruction from a Certified instructor from beginning to end.

Description:

This class is for all individuals regardless of

previous shooting experience. Students receive direct instruction from a Certified instructor from

beginning to end.

Fee: $275

Description:

This course consists of instruction in the following areas: firearms safety and handling, sportsmanship

and ethics, wildlife management and conservation,  wildlife identification, game

care.  After a student successfully completes the course and passes the final

examination, they are awarded a Certificate of Completion. The Traditional Course allows for individual interaction with the instructor. The Traditional Course is most often preferred by first-time hunters.  

If you were born on or after January 1, 1975, you must complete a hunter education course to purchase a hunting license OR show proof of a previously held license in Idaho or another state.

 All registrants for this event must be 9 years of age

Summary:

Students discuss the predator’s mindset and the importance of mental and physical preparedness inside

and outside the home. Students are taught strategies that can be integrated into their everyday lives to avoid falling victim to a crime.

Description:

The DFT Academy Personal Awareness Seminar covers topics that best suit the needs of women.

This is not a firearms instruction course and does not include instruction in physical combat self-

defense. This is conducted in the classroom only

Topics covered:

• Reality: Your mindset versus your predator’s mindset.

• Mental Preparedness to help keep you out of danger.

• Physical Security at home, on the road, when traveling, at work, and more.

• Self-Defense Physical Training: What is a Sheepdog?

• Personal Protection Devices

Fee: $65

For our students who want to improve their ability to draw firearms in various settings and applications. This is conducted the classroom only. 

Topics will include: 

* Holster Considerations 

* Best Practices 

* How to draw from concealed safely  

* Drawing while: 

a. Standing 

b. Sitting 

c. Moving 

d. From a Vehicle 

e. From the ground

Summary:

Students are taught the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition in the home. This is a non-shooting course. This is conducted in the classroom only.

Description:

Students receive direct instruction from a Certified instructor from beginning to end.

Topics covered:

• How to take care of firearms in your home.

• The major causes of gun accidents.

• The three fundamental safe gun handling rules.

• How to apply safety rules when using or storing firearms and ammunition.

• Who is responsible for teaching firearm safety to children?

Fee: $ 50

For our students who want to help make the range safer for the groups they interact with or are thinking of one day becoming an instructor this is a great foundation.

Each RSO candidate will learn:

• roles and responsibilities of a Range Safety Officer.

• range Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• range inspection.

• range rules.

• range briefings.

• emergency procedures.

• firearm stoppages and malfunctions.

Each RSO candidate will receive a Basic RSO Guide and a course evaluation form.

Students are taught the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for the protection of self and family. 

• Introduction to Defensive Shooting
  • Discuss the importance of using a firearm responsibly & ethically for personal protection
  • Discuss the importance of developing the proper mindset for using a firearm for personal protection & facing & life-threatening encounters.
  • Discuss the four levels of awareness
  • Discuss the importance of mental preparation & physical training for a potentially life-threatening confrontation
• Basic Defensive Pistol Skills
  • Explain & demonstrate the fundamentals of defensive marksmanship
  • Explain defensive accuracy
  • Shoot targets in the center of mass using aimed shots from a 2-handed standing position
•  Use of Deadly Force
  • Discuss potential criminal & civil legal actions that may be taken subsequent to a defensive encounter
  • Discuss where students may find detailed legal information for their specific jurisdiction
• Strategies for Home Safety & Responding to a Violent Confrontation
  • Discuss strategies & methods to enhance personal safety at home
  • Describe strategies for responding to a potentially life-threatening encounter
  • Discuss the importance of mentally preparing for the aftermath of a violent confrontation
  • Discuss methods for safely storing a personal protection pistol

  • Gun Owner's Responsibilities
  • The Importance of carrying & using a pistol responsibly & ethically for personal protection outside the home
  • Special safety considerations that must be observed when carrying or using a concealed pistol outside the home
• Introduction to Self-Defense & Concealed Carry
  • The importance of mental preparation & developing the proper mindset for carrying & using a pistol for personal protection & facing a life-threatening encounter outside the home
  • Techniques for avoiding life-threatening confrontations outside the home
  • The psychological & physiological changes that may occur during an attack
  • The differences between having a firearm for personal protection in the home & carrying a pistol for personal protection outside the home
  • Techniques for controlling & responding to a violent encounter outside the home
  • The emotional, legal, & social aftermath of a defensive shooting outside the home
